ROAD BY FILM

Road by Film is based on archived film material taken in the late 1970s of road journeys using a 8mm movie camera to capture the open road of various places including 'Bombay Taxi Ride (India)', 'Lobatse Bakkie Hob (Botswana)' and 'Swaziland Mountain Tour (country now known as 'Kingdom of Eswatini.')

Film footage of a Bombay Taxi Ride is framed through the window of a 'Padmini,' as this iconic taxi was known. The journey takes us along the busy inner streets of the city and along Marine Drive, showcasing a brief glimpse of the famous

Taj Mahal hotel.

Captured footage in the late 1970s, showcases a drive through Lobatse a small rural town located 45 miles south of the capital Gaborone, Botswana.

The winding roads of Swaziland's highveld region is captured on film, using the window frame of a car.
