The inspiration for this project, was derived from the work of legendary American photographer,
Lee Friedlander, at times using the window pillars of the car to act as a frames for the picture.
‘Drive by Derby’ project was photographed during the Magnum Workshop Derby (March 2011) held by Magnum street photographers; Bruce Gilden and Chris Steele-Perkins, during this workshop provided the opportunity to shoot and later publish a portfolio of the work for the Magnum Photobook.
The Polar Dress is an experimental fashion concept by which patterns are created on fabric of a material using repetitive photographic images of a subject. The subject in this case (hedge borders) was captured using a Polaroid film camera. The image was then repeated several times to create a patterned effect which was then printed on silk fabric. To show case the printed fabric, the Halter-Neck dress design was used.
