Dancing with light is a showcase of the impact light sources has on the portrayal of a subject. The initial photographs are captured in predominately shadowed areas, with the eye being drawn to the contrasting and harsh silhouettes. By taking a holistic view, ‘Silence the Shadows’, is the exploration of the power shadows can have in presenting an object and, setting the tone of this particular photographic work. As the title entails, this book dwells into a dark and gloomy perception of post modernism, and foreshadows the inspiration for the ensemble of these photographs. Therefore, in order to retain this element of mystery, keen viewers will notice the gradual use of shadows, hiding the subject from sight. Doing so, the overall sequence can be viewed as a deliberate intention to mask any sources of light and, draw attention to the more sinister shift in visual documentation. (read more here)

Landing in Berlin on a frosty winter morning with plenty of crosswind, is a 90-second video footage captured through the window of an Airbus A320. Lying beneath the clouds is Berlin Tegel Airport, which saw its last commercial flight in November 2020. The airport was recognizable for its hexagonal-shaped building around an internal open square space.

The Berlin Wall was constructed to create a barrier between East and West Berlin. It was commenced on 13th August, 1961 and ideologically the wall divided Berlin until 1989. The wall included guarded towers, which aimed to separate citizens in East Berlin, from entering or leaving West Berlin. As a consequence, millions of families were spilt, and many losing their jobs and unemployment on the rise (read more here).

Dubai, captured in the eye of a desert storm. These collections of photographs are taken from the perspective of a passenger, as they make the journey through this desert metropolis. The exhibition begins with, a drive through the central business district, which follows the line of the Monorail train, and eventually fades into a landscape portrayal of the desert. The black and white imagery, creates a cinematic vision which reflects the city's on-going inspiration to be the greatest and finest. As a result of the desert storm, a distinctive fog covers the surrounding skyscrapers, creating a mystical atmosphere. To visit the slideshow exhibition CLICK here.

Drive by Derby’ project was created from the Magnum Workshop Derby (March 2011) held by Magnum street photographers Bruce Gilden, Richard Kalvar and Chris Steele-Perkins. Through the mentoring from these photographers, this workshop provided the opportunity to shoot and later publish a portfolio of the work, and exhibit at the Format International Photography Festival.
